CPC congratulates Lao People's Revolutionary Party on opening of national congress

BEIJING, March 17 (Xinhua) -- The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday sent a congratulatory message to the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (PRP) for the opening of its ninth national congress.

On behalf of the CPC and the Chinese people, the committee hailed the opening of the PRP's Ninth National Party Congress, and conveyed via the congress the most gracious greetings to all PRP members and the Lao people.

The CPC shares the joy of success achieved by the Lao people under the leadership of PRP in socialist construction since the previous national congress, the message said.

The CPC is willing to work together with the PRP, in line with the principles of long-term stability, good-neighborliness, mutual trust and all-round cooperation in the 21st century, for a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries, and for peace, cooperation, development and prosperity of Asia and the world, the message said.

The congress, scheduled for Thursday till Monday, will adopt the political report of the eighth Party Central Committee, amend the party constitution, and elect the ninth Central Committee for the 2011-2016 term.
